PARTY PROFILE

The Albanian Green Party profile was established in 1991 It was one of the first opposition organisations after the fall of the communist regime .
Some of the founders and and officals already achieved a reputacion in environmental and natyral protection movements

The Green Party of Albania took part in the first nacional democratic election, with common candidates with Democratic Party of Albania , according to an agrement between to Parties . Also The Greens in Albania represented at the municipality leve at election of the 1996 and 2001.
In the nacional election the green alternative obtainet less that 1 % , but from abort 60 Parties in Albania , the Albanian Greens are at 13 place .
Actualy Green Party of Albania , like ther small parties outside Parlament traied to play its role in politics. It is involved in blocking of the low in Parlament for GMO and for the problem of the properties in Albania .

Green Party of Albania is involved at some protests in Albania like :

Protest agenst the Croation oil Company at the most beautiful lagoon of Karavasta in Albania
Protest agenst the Italian Company for building in Albania a Rubish tratment factory and importing of quantities of italian rubish in Albania

Protest agenst the buding of TEC in Vlora Region from some foreign companies .
The Albanian Greens are present in media and TV for environmental problems . The Party is regularly informend about acute political and environmetal problems , in some of wich we can take steps and in others not , due to lack of resourses.
The programm of the Green Alternative outlines an eco/social market economy model. We support the protest agenst the inreasing of high taxatation sistem, favouring clients from govering Parties, and financial oligopols and monopols .

The current political and economic situation in Albania is vary complicated . The two major political forces , the Socialist Party in Government ( 8 years ) and Democratic Party in Opposition have not solved the basic problems of the country
The nacional election are planin for 3 July 2005 The Green Party did not field any candidate for nacional election, because the political climate strongly is fovouring the candidates from Socialist Party and Democratic Party , which are main forces in Albania As a party we decided to negociate with Movement for National Development to consider common candidates in some regions of Albania.

International cooperation is diserable and necessary , particularly on Environmental issues , Human Rights, Cultural Development, Peace, etc. We aim becoming ecologically sustainable society in social harmony. We like to consolide the relacion with other Parties . To promote this we are looking for regional partners.
At November 2003 The Green Party of Albania is represented at the creation of the
WORLD ECOLOGICAL PARTIES aleance( WEP)

Mrs. Erida Luka was elected the Vice President of the WEP and in April 2005 at the Asamble of Lisbona she was elected as a President of the WEP
